Sun Cut Flat is a fine young Boston band spearheaded by a chap named Nick. their album 'Running of the Bulls' is a great example of how good a home recorded album can sound. and its also a great example of the old saying 'some times the best things in life are free'. But before you run off to download / listen to the album, perhaps we could interest you in a little Q and A.

Your biggest musical inspirations (or things that inspire your writing). My biggest inspiration comes when i listen to artists i like on my bose headphones. Recently I've been getting alot of inspiration from electronic layered music like boards of canada, sonnymoon, thom yorke, flying lotus. Lyrically i am really into the stream of conciosuness style, i like mos def's new lyrical style because its really spiritual and religious in a trippy way
What do you play and record with? I've recorded all my albums so far in my attic at home. I have a digidesign soundboard, a few mics, a midi keyboard, and logic express. If i'm not playing an instrument on the record, the guys in SCF will come over and track their parts, or ill go to Isaac's apartment and he will play the drum parts. At shows I play a Rickenbacker from the seventies which my bassist erik lets me play. i like to play my fender strat too
Your favourite book or movie. My favorite movie right now is Avatar. My favorite book right now is The Time Machine by HG Wells.
Tell us a something about yourself that might surprise us. I play basketball very competitively at this gym and i take it very personally.
Musicians that you think more people should know about.
- SonnyMoon: really lushly layered electronic music with this beautiful jazz singer named Anna Wise. She sounds like Erika Baydu/Jill Scott/ Joni Mitchell all together
- Allison Francis: Her songs will kick your ass and its really intense/beautiful at the same time, she is especially amazing live
- The Throwbacks: Sickest rap duo out of Boston right now, InfinitiRock makes the beats and he is a boy wonder, we are currently working on an album together for a side project thing. Its not hip hop though, more like Animal Collective meets Beck
You can only have one thing for the rest of your life, which do you chose: cigarttes, coffee, wine, beer or ketchup? i would take the wine, its been around for so long it is crucial.
