Lisa Will Insult You, Darling is the moniker used by a man from Germany called Sebastian. If my memory serves me, he was one of my first musical friends made over on Myspace. There is a certain darkness to the songs, but I don't think 'dark' would be a good word to describe his music. Maybe there isn't a darkness at all, I just find it sounds really good listening to it while sitting in a dark room.

Desert Island Top 5 albums (i.e. you can only have 5 albums to listen to and yes, there is a cd player and unlimited batteries on the island)

  • Damien Jurado - And Now That I´m In Your Shadow (or Ghost Of David)
  • Nina Simone - Here Comes The Sun
  • The Microphones - It Was Hot, We Stayed In The Water
  • Leonard Cohen - Songs Of Leonard Cohen
  • Jim O'Rourke - Eureka

Is there a story behind the 'Lisa' name? Lisa was a girl I met some time ago. She disappeared one day and I´ve decided to name this music thing I was about to start after her. The name was changing every now and then. It was Lisa Makes You Moan, Lisa Kills Animals, Lisa Says and stuff like that until I ended up using Lisa Will Insult You, Darling.

Your biggest musical inspirations (or things that inspire your writing) Weird memories + vintage photos, audio recordings and movies.

If you had a time machine, what year / event would you want go back and experience? 1981, reliving my life would be fun. I´ve always liked the idea of an eternal recurrence.

Favourite book or movie.

  • Book: Raymond Carver - What We Talk About When We Talk About Love / Cathedral
  • Movie: Paris, Texas and Buffalo '66

Tell us something about yourself that might come as a surprise. I hate knees.

Musicians that you think more people should know about, but for some reason don't. Jens Carelius, a songwriter from Norway. This guy is incredibly gifted.

You can only have one thing for the rest of your life, which do you chose: cigarettes, coffee, wine, beer or ketchup? Wine, no doubt about this one.

You can get to know Lisa ... better than our 8 questions will allow by visiting these other corners of the internet and saying 'hello'. You can also check out the nifty profile page over on Thanks for the Postcard.
