Glass Cake is a lady from California named Michelle. She creates lo-fi pop music that could charm the pants off a person who is really hard to charm pants off of. The melodies are great and each song floats around your head long after your headphones have been removed. We sat down with Michelle over a tall glass of internet and asked her some hard hitting questions.
Desert Island Top 5 albums (i.e. you can only have 5 albums to listen to and yes, there is a cd player and unlimited batteries on the ilsand).

- mount eerie, julie doiron and fred squire - "lost wisdom"
- lake - "lake"
- al green - "i'm still in love with you"
- nobunny - "nobunny loves you"
Favourite albums of 2009. lake's "let's build a roof"
Your biggest musical inspirations (or things that inspire your writing). my friends and the music that they make. mammary and watercolor paintings, especially. the ladies of those projects and i are in a band together called girl band. also the weather is pretty important to me.
What do you play and record with? mostly i play the guitar and fiddle around with other instruments, and sing. i just bought a kalimba that i'd like to use more. i record on my laptop using the built-in microphone which is the worst, so it doesn't sound too great. i'm trying to record on album using an 8-track i've got on loan, but i don't know how to use things.
Top 5 favourite books or movies. oh, this is too hard. not necessarily because i've got a million favorite books and movies but because i can't make decisions like these without deliberating foreverrrr.
What is one song (or name a few) that you never seem to get tired of, no matter how many times you listen to it? dorando's "didn't i," backpack's "wah wah," and herman dune's "have you seen the moon."
Top 5 artists / albums that you think more people should know about. my friends' bands! the ones i mentioned above along with so many more, like campfire, mega bog and winnie byrd, for example.
You can only have one thing for the rest of your life, which do you chose: cigarttes, coffee, wine, beer or ketchup? ketchup, no question.
if you want to learn more, you're gonna have to seek him out on the old internet. you know, the old fashioned way. before there was in depth Q + A's.
